iPhone App is coming to the Houston Real Estate Market

August 18, 2010

Over the last year iPhones and Androids have really taken a powerful leap and are becoming more popular among real estate agents.  Technology is growing in the mobile market.  About a year ago 68% of our agents were using BlackBerries.  Today I can say that 45% of our agents are on BlackBerries. More and more agents are turning in their BlackBerries in for an iPhone or Android.  Our agents say they like the larger screen size and that the functions are more intuitive than the BlackBerries.  Not only that, there are many more apps available for the iPhone and the Android. Also, our website statistics show that we receive over 1,000 hits a month from the iPhone, iPad and Android.  1 year ago we had only 150 hits a month!  So there is definitely a growing trend going on here.

Houston Association of Realtors has announced plans to release an app to the consumer and for realtors.  They currently going through the process of getting it approved by Apple. Apple has tightened up their guidelines considerably for approving new apps.  No more are the days of paying $500 and getting your app published in the App Store.  So far from what I’ve seen of their app it is pretty impressive.  You’ll be able to bookmark listings, search for homes for sale in Houston that are near you, conduct a Houston real estate map search, save history searches and much more.  Can’t wait to see it in action!

As technology evolves in the real estate industry, we know that we must stay ahead of the game by providing our clients and website visitors the latest tools and trends in technology that will provide them with the best service.  Technology plays an important role at John Daugherty, Realtors.  We have been working on some top secret projects that we are about to introduce that will provide better service to our clients and website visitors.

Stay tuned!

Thanks for posting this Darren! I think it is very interesting to see the technological advances that continue to affect our business on a daily basis. I too turned in my Blackberry a few months ago in favor of the iPhone, and I have to say, I have not looked back even once! I love the commitment that John Daugherty Realtors has to not only staying on the cutting edge of technology, but in leading the way. I know that we have some incredible “top secret projects” in the works, and I can’t wait until we roll them out.

Mobile marketing is obviously red-hot right now.

The challenge is, learning what to do about it.
And specifically what to do in the local markets.

Mobile Marketing Facts

* There are currently 5 Billion mobile phone users world wide

* Approximately 51 million of those are smart phones

*86% of the U.S. population owns a mobile phone

*75 billion text messages are sent each month

* Text messages cannot be blocked, filtered or ignored

* SMS Mobile marketing is more affordable and quicker than traditional methods of communication and more reliable than email

* SMS text messages are received within seconds of being sent

* SMS Mobile Marketing allows your message recipients to respond to your offers or promos in real time

I’ve been checking out the programs that’s
been coming out on mobile and, frankly,
its been disappointing.

Either they are $2,000 to $5,000 programs.
Or they are junky $30 ebooks that are basically useless.

As a Main Street Marketing Member and Video Marketing Coach with the Traffic Geyser team, Mike Koenigs as done it again!

Let me give you my 2 cents on it.

First, it has a module on local with mobile.

It shows you how to position what they teach
with local businesses. Then, you use the things
from the rest of the program to deliver new
clients to local businesses.

Things like mobile ads, lead generation, phone
call leads, and more. And you can use the software
that comes with it to create your mobile pages.

It was all straight forward with me.

I don’t recommend many things to my Video Marketing Training subscribers unless I believe it helps you be more successful
with your local marketing business.

This is one, after going through it myself, that
I feel is a great value and fits in with the
Local Video Marketing model.
