Cinco Ranch

Though once the domain of cowboys and cattlemen, Cinco Ranch now caters to a tamer crowd. The 7,600-acre master-planned community is devoted to creating attractive living spaces for a range of needs, but maintains a connection to its rugged past by offering diverse recreation spaces. Cinco Ranch is located within Fort Bend and Harris counties, about 32 miles west of downtown Houston, 10 miles north of Richmond, and 10 miles southeast of Katy.

History

The modern community of Cinco Ranch traces its roots to several storied Texas families (Moses Austin, Randolph Foster and the Blakeleys), who purchased this land where wild horse, deer, and buffalo did indeed roam. Eventually, the area that would become the Cinco Ranch community was sold in 1937 to five friends (hence "Cinco" Ranch) who worked it as a cattle ranch and rice and peanut farm. Not until 1984 was the area purchased by a development conglomerate to build the existing housing community.

Diverse Home Styles

Cinco Ranch real estate was developed to offer something for everyone: there are many traditional single-family homes in various price ranges, as well as exclusive custom and estate homes, low-maintenance lifestyle homes, and even a neighborhood for homebuyers of age 55 and over. Most current and future new-home construction in Cinco Ranch is located west of Katy Gaston Road.

Amenities and Recreation

At Cinco Ranch, you're never far from fun. For example, there is the community's newest amenity, the 76-acre Spring Green Recreation Center, which features a scenic 30-acre lake surrounded by parks, greenbelts and wetland ledges. Or there's the Lakehouse, architecturally inspired by historic Texas train depots and offering indoor and outdoor gathering areas. Other recreational amenities include the Beach Club (with a swim lagoon, white sand beach and sailboat and paddleboat rentals); the Water Park (with three pools, water slides, and chutes); an 18-hole golf course; a network of greenbelt trails for jogging, biking and rollerblading; and the Bayou Nature Trail, extending nearly four miles and preserving almost 70 acres of woodland and wetland habitat.

Why West Houston?

With population expected to exceed 1.83 million by 2035, West Houston real estate is adding new residents and new jobs at a faster pace than the region as a whole. Two developments make living in West Houston more convenient than ever: the Westpark Tollway (which provides a nonstop, uncongested route from the West Loop/Galleria area to the Grand Parkway) and the reconstruction/expansion of the Katy Freeway (1-10 West).
