Memorial West
The Memorial West residential area, located west of the Beltway 8, is home to some of Houston's most beautiful homes. The neighborhoods considered to be included in this area lie between Beltway 8 on the east, Highway 6 on the west, 1-10 on the north and Buffalo Bayou on the south.
Neighborhoods
West of Gessner, and of Beltway 8, which provides Memorial West with quick access to all parts of the city, are many neighborhoods with wooded lots and green space along the bayou with a jogging trail and horse stables. These neighborhoods include Memorial Bend, Gaywood, Yorkchester, Yorkshire, Wilchester, Nottingham, Nottingham Forest and Westchester.
To the west, the neighborhoods of Memorial Thicket, Thornwood, Barker's Landing, Fleetwood and Marywood beckon. Home styles are typically New Orleans Colonial, Cape Cod, traditional and contemporary.

High-school students east of Beltway 8 attend Memorial High School, while those west of Beltway 8 attend Stratford High School. There are also several award-winning private schools in the area.
